Join us at Osamequin Farm for a special collaboration with husband & wife duo, Katama Murray & Nathaniel Sharp! This event will kickoff with a nature walk around the farm property and trails, followed by a hands-on art workshop focused on the cyanotype printing process. Towards the end of the educational outdoor walk led by Nathaniel, participants will learn about mindful foraging practices with Katama, and utilize natural objects from the farm to create cyanotype prints in the barn. Explore the creative possibilities within cyanotypes to make one of a kind prints! Learn the basics of capturing shadows through sun printing on both fabric and paper, utilizing different techniques for all levels of experience.

Nature WALK

with BIRDER & NATURALIST, nathaniel sharp

Prior to the workshop, you are invited to attend a summer nature walk with lifelong birder & naturalist educator Nathaniel Sharp on the trails around the farm. Through research projects and community science initiatives, Nathaniel has studied birds, bees, butterflies, and more in habitats spanning from the mountains of New England to the seacoast. Together, we will explore the environs of Osamequin Farm while inspecting flowers for their pollinators, listening to the songs and calls of birds, and learning about how biodiversity has flourished on this working farm. After a 45-minute, slow-paced walk around the area, we will tally up the birds we've seen and heard with a handy app known as eBird to contribute our sightings to a broader community science initiative and share our bird list among the group.

Binoculars or a camera are helpful but not necessary to bring, though sturdy footwear and a water bottle are always a must!
